This operating mode of the battery means that the battery is charged with any excess energy from the solar panels. The energy from the solar panels primarily goes to consumption in the house, but as soon as an excess of solar arises, this is charged into the battery. Conversely, the battery is discharged as soon as the PV is not enough to cover the consumption in the house. This means that as many kWh as possible is used in the house and you avoid buying electricity for the longest time. In this operating mode, the system will strive to drain the battery so it is always ready to store excess PV power. If solar production during one day does not cover the daily need for electricity, the battery will therefore be discharged to the lower SOC threshold in the evening.
